After Dallas police shut down their investigation into retired Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin’s claim that he was threatened at gunpoint last month because he failed to return their telephone calls, the Hall of Famer is now cooperating with law enforcement inquiries. Per the Associated Press, Irvin told KTVT-TV that his lawyers have been in touch with police officials. Irvin returned to Dallas on Friday after working at the Super Bowl and then making a trip to Los Angeles, and police confirmed that they have spoken to Irvin’s representatives and don’t doubt the veracity of Irvin’s statements. Irvin alleged that two men in a truck pulled a gun on him at a stoplight on Jan. 12, filing a police report where he said he was “very afraid.” The way Irvin has handled the situation, though, or rather not handled the situation in a timely manner, raises questions about how serious he is about assisting police in finding the alleged culprits.
