The Jaguars are getting their top tight end back for the final six weeks of the regular season.
The club activated Marcedes Lewis from injured reserve/designated for return on Monday, according to the NFL’s transactions.
To open the roster spot for Lewis, the Jaguars put rookie wide receiver Allen Robinson on season-ending injured reserve. Robinson suffered a broken foot in the Jaguars’ November 9 loss to the Cowboys in London.
The 30-year-old Lewis has been out since Week Two because of a high-ankle sprain. He hauled in eight catches for 106 yards and a score before leaving the lineup. Lewis will help pick up some of the slack after the loss of Robinson, who leads Jacksonville in targets (81), catches (48) and receiving yards (548).
In another roster move disclosed by the league on Monday, the Jaguars released tight end Mike Flacco from the practice squad. Mike Flacco is the brother of Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.
The 1-9 Jaguars play at AFC South-leading Indianapolis on Sunday. They currently hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
