The Jaguars opened up a spot on the defensive line last week when they parted ways with defensive end Jeremy Mincey and they filled it on Monday by claiming a player off of waivers from the Rams.
Jacksonville announced that defensive end Gerald Rivers will be joining the team after being waived by the Rams over the weekend. Guard Mike Brewster was placed on injured reserve in a corresponding move.
Rivers signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent in April after not playing football at Ole Miss in his senior season. Rivers made the team out of camp, but saw action in just two games while with the Rams this season.
He may get two more games of action with the Jaguars, but the Jags likely made the move in hopes that Rivers can progress through an offseason with the team and be a productive player in 2014.
