Jammal Brown appears ticketed for right tackle

New Redskins acquisition Jammal Brown’s first football practice in nearly a year will likely take place at right tackle, where he started his NFL career.

Nothing is set in stone, but multiple national reports indicate the plan is to start Brown on the right side, with No. 4 overall pick Trent Williams staying on the left. The logic makes sense.

Brown’s experience on the blind side would make it easy for the two to switch positions if Williams isn’t ready for the responsibility. Then again, Brown has much to prove.

New Orleans practically gave Brown away, for a move up two rounds in the 2011 draft. Sure, he made two Pro Bowls. But the second Pro Bowl was a joke -- Brown disappointed in 2008 -- and he didn’t play a single snap last season because of hip and groin issues.

In his rookie season (2006), Brown made the All Pro first team at right tackle. The next year, he moved to the left and looked like a player to build a franchise around.

The Saints bet heavily on Saturday against him ever regaining that form.
