Jason Pierre-Paul: Eagles are 4-1 but could’ve easily been 0-4

Giants defensive end Jason Pierre Paul says the Eagles aren’t as good as their 4-1 record suggests.

With the Giants preparing to face the Eagles on Sunday, Pierre-Paul says he’s not impressed with what he’s seen when he watches his NFC East rival.

“At the end of the day, yeah, they’re 4-1,” Pierre-Paul said, via the New York Daily News. “But they could have easily been 0-4.”

I’m going to assume Pierre-Paul meant “0-5" instead of “0-4,” but he is right that none of the Eagles wins has been particularly impressive: They fell behind 17-0 before coming back to beat the Jaguars, and their wins over Indianapolis, Washington and St. Louis were all close.

“The games were that close,” he said. “You know it too! I watch TV. You watch TV. I feel like we shouldn’t go out there and make it a close game.”

Overall, Pierre-Paul seems to dislike his upcoming opponent.

“I don’t like Philly,” Pierre-Paul said. “I don’t care at all about Philly. I don’t like Philly, you know what I’m saying?”

The 3-2 Giants are currently a game behind both the 4-1 Eagles and the 4-1 Cowboys in the NFC East. But with the Cowboys heading to Seattle on Sunday, there’s a good chance that if the Giants win, there will be a three-way tie atop the division. Pierre-Paul thinks the Giants can do it.

“Yeah, we can,” he said. “This team can win the NFC East.”

If he’s right, the Eagles will fall to 4-2 but could easily be 0-5. Or 0-6.
