As the Raiders prepare to face quarterback Peyton Manning twice per year, what better way to get ready than to hire the guy who served as Peyton’s understudy for six seasons?
The Associated Press reports that the Raiders will work out Jim Sorgi on Tuesday.
Sorgi played for the Colts from 2004 through 2009, serving as the backup to Manning. Sorgi has since been out of the league, last surfacing in October 2011, when the Dolphins included Sorgi in a six-man Gong Show that ultimately was won by Sage Rosenfels.
The Raiders also plan to work out Matt Leinart. The only backups to Carson Palmer currently on the roster are Terrelle Pryor and Rhett Bomar.
