The Jaguars came into the offseason talking about focusing on the defensive side of the ball after building up the offense over the last few seasons and it didn’t take long for them to put that plan into motion.
They signed defensive end Malik Jackson to kick off free agency and then added safety Tashaun Gipson and cornerback Prince Amukamara to the mix as well. Jacksonville also has the fifth pick in the first round of the draft and the consensus wisdom is that they’ll pick up another defensive piece with that selection.
They’ll be visiting with a player who could fit the bill on Tuesday. The team announced that Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa will be one of the draft prospects at the team’s headquarters.
The Jaguars expect last year’s first-round pick Dante Fowler back from a torn ACL. Teaming him with Bosa would make for a major upgrade on the edges from what Jacksonville put on the field last season.
Bosa may not make it to the Jaguars, though. The Chargers and Cowboys, who pick third and fourth respectively, are both seen as possible landing spots, to say nothing of the possibility of the Titans and/or Browns opting for defense with the first two picks.
