Colts coach Chuck Pagano isn’t the only member of his family on the hot seat.
Chargers defensive coordinator John Pagano, the brother of the Colts’ head coach, knows that if the defense doesn’t get turned around in San Diego, he’s the one who will pay for it.
“It starts with: we’re all accountable, No. 1; myself,” Pagano said, via the San Diego Union-Tribune. “We’ve got to do a better job. We didn’t play good. We didn’t coach good.”
Last week the Chargers allowed the Raiders to score 30 first-half points. A week earlier the Chargers gave up 548 yards to the Packers. A week before that the Chargers’ defense allowed a Mike Vick-led Steelers offense to march down the field for a game-winning touchdown on the final play. The Chargers’ offense has been playing well, but the defense has San Diego on a three-game losing streak.
“It’s not something that we just brush off in any sense,” Pagano said. “There’s been a lot of ticked-off attitudes around here.”
If Pagano is ticked off now, he may be even more ticked off when he’s out of work in January. At least he’ll be able to commiserate with his brother.
