Jordan Reed, Barry Cofield could both miss some time

Tight end Jordan Reed has shown flashes of great talent in his brief NFL career, but a concussion kept him out of seven games as a rookie and now another injury is threatening to cost him time in his second season with the Redskins.

Reed hurt his hamstring while trying to hurdle a defender in the first half of Sunday’s loss to the Texans. Reed didn’t return to the game after the injury and coach Jay Gruden said at Monday’s press conference that it “could be some time” before he’s ready to return.

Gruden said that the team will work out some tight ends this week, but that they could also opt to stick with Logan Paulsen and Niles Paul if Reed is out of the lineup.

Gruden also said that defensive tackle Barry Cofield could be looking at some time on the sideline because of a high ankle sprain. Chris Baker will take over for Cofield in the middle of the line as the Redskins work toward evening their record against the Jaguars next Sunday.
