The Saints got 12 sacks from linebacker Junior Galette last season and they hope to get that kind of production through the end of the decade.

Galette’s agent Alvin Keels announced Wednesday that his client and the Saints have agreed on a contract extension that binds Galette to the team through the 2019 season. Galette was already signed through the 2015 season, so it’s a four-year extension for a key part of the pass rush in New Orleans.

Keels offered no financial details of the deal. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that he’ll receive $23 million in guaranteed money -- it’s not known if those are full guarantees -- and up to $41.5 million under the terms of the extension.

Galette joined the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Stillman College and had 9.5 sacks over the 2011 and 2012 seasons while playing in a reserve role. Galette moved up to the starting lineup last year and proved to be a great fit for defensive coordinator Rob Ryan’s scheme. He joins defensive ends Cameron Jordan and Akiem Hicks as younger players that the team can build their front seven around in the coming years.
