Bills running back Karlos Williams will have more time to lose the pregnancy sympathy weight.
The league has suspended Williams four games for violating the substance-abuse policy. He’ll be eligible to return to the team on Monday, October 3, a day after the team’s Week Four game against the Patriots.
“As an organization, we are disappointed that Karlos has put himself in this situation,” the Bills said in a statement. “Poor decisions such as this affect not only the individual, but the entire Bills organization. We will continue to work with Karlos through the various player programs we provide to assist him in making better decisions moving forward.”
The problem for the Bills and Williams is that, under the revised policy, a suspension happens only after multiple violations, which given that he’s been in the league only one year isn’t encouraging. Now, Williams will be one strike away from a 10-game suspension, and a second strike away from a banishment of at least one year.
The news comes in the same week that the Bills learned running back LeSean McCoy won’t be disciplined after a February altercation with an off-duty police officer in Philadelphia.
Williams raised eyebrows by showing up for a mandatory minicamp noticeably overweight. Apparently, he gained 20-25 pounds.
As the late James Reborn said in Meet The Parents, “I think they call that the munchies.”
