KELLY CONFIRMS THAT HE AND JEREMIAH WERE FIRED

In separate postings earlier in the week, we reported that the Browns had parted ways with National Scout Daniel Jeremiah and Midwest scout Kevin Kelly. Kelly has confirmed the moves to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Kelly said that he showed up for personnel meetings this week, and he learned of his dismissal. “It’s disappointing,” Kelly said. “It’s been a long eight years and I’ve always had tremendous respect for the Browns organization, the tradition and the fans. I’m proud of the Browns who’ve come from my area.” Per Cabot, Kelly was instrumental in scouting left tackle Joe Thomas, receiver Braylon Edwards, and quarterback Brady Quinn. Kelly also was responsible for persuading receiver/kick returner Joshua Cribbs to sign as an undrafted free agent with the Browns, instead of the Redskins.
