The Lions added offensive players with four of their seven draft picks and they continued to address that side of the ball with their undrafted rookie additions.
The team announced their crop of free agent signings and eight of the 12 players in the group are on the offensive side of the ball. Another one is former Notre Dame kicker/punter Kyle Brindza, so the team only put three more bodies on the defensive side of the ball for Friday’s start of rookie minicamp.
Among the offensive additions is South Dakota State running back Zach Zenner, who ran for 2,000 yards in each of the last three seasons on his way to becoming a three-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award as the top player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
They also signed Memphis guard Al Bond, Duke quarterback Anthony Boone, Georgia Tech safety Isaiah Johnson, Texas A&M-Commerce wide receiver Vernon Johnson, North Carolina A&T wide receiver Desmond Lawrence, Kent State tight end Casey Pierce, Rutgers linebacker Kevin Snyder, Utah State safety Brian Suite, Alfred State running back Rasheed Williams and UCF offensive lineman Torrian Wilson.
