The home of the 12th Man has no fans within Man U.
The English soccer club owned by the Glazer family (which also owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers) began a U.S. tour in Seattle on Friday, beating Club America of Mexico 1-0. After the game, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal complained about the quality of the playing field.
“It was not good,” van Gaal said, via seattlepi.com. “It was difficult. The first surface is artificial, and then the natural cross over it, so it is always moving. It’s not so easy, and also, you can get more and more injuries.”
In contrast, van Gaal praised the Seahawks’ practice facility, along with the fields there.
“The pitches are fantastic,” van Gaal said of the Virginia Mason Athletic Center. “We have to play football on such a pitch, but tonight we could not play on such a pitch, and that’s a pity.”
The Seahawks and the Seattle Sounders of the MLS play at CenturyLink Field. Chances are Manchester United won’t be back any time soon.
