Louisiana State University cornerback Tyrann Mathieu walks off the field after his team defeated Western Kentucky in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in this November 12, 2011 file photo. Mathieu has been dismissed from the Tigers for violating team policy, head coach Les Miles announced August 10. Mathieu was one of the team’s top defensive playmakers for a team that went undefeated during the regular season. Multiple reports have said that the Heisman Trophy finalist failed a drug test. As Tyrann Mathieu tries to shed his “Honey Badger” vibe, he can’t afford to flirt with any type of controversy, whether it’s his fault or not.

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that Mathieu missed a couple of team visits last week.

Mathieu supposedly was ill. For teams that are extra-leery of Mathieu, it may not matter.

There’s no reason to believe Mathieu was pulling a Ferris Bueller. But with his history, it’s hard to get the benefit of the doubt, on anything.

Then again, it could be that Mathieu decided he’s had enough of being bombarded with the same questions about the same topics. With 32 teams that feel completely entitled to poke and prod any and every prospect they choose, people forget that, for the individual kids, it can eventually get old. Mathieu may have gotten to the point where he’d simply had enough.

Draft me, don’t draft me. Just quit asking me the same damn questions over and over again.

Good luck finding any 21- or 22-year-old who wouldn’t eventually reach that breaking point.
