Given the unusual circumstances that have unfolded this year between linebacker Matt Roth and the Dolphins, he probably wasn’t upset to be released.
We wonder how he feels about where he has landed.
As Rosenthal pointed out in his post regarding the waiving of Roth, the Browns have made a waivers claim on Roth -- and the Browns have been awarded his contract.
Even though Roth is in the final year of his four-year contract, this could be more than a one-year arrangement. If there’s not extension to the labor deal by March 2010, the Browns will be able to keep Roth’s rights via the rules of restricted free agency.
Then again, if/when coach Eric Mangini gets fired, the new regime might decide to let Roth go.
