Tennessee Titans All-Pro center Kevin Mawae isn’t looking to hang up his cleats anytime soon. Despite his age (38), recent health problems (elbow surgery), and a contract that expires after this season, Mawae envisions playing football beyond this year, according to Terry McCormick of the Nashville City Paper. “I want to play this game as long as I possibly can,” Mawae said. “I love playing the game. It’s never been about the money, it’s about the enjoyment of the game.” Mawae is sidelined at minicamps and Organized Team Activies with a projected return date of training camp in late July. The elbow seems to be coming along well after being surgically repaired five months ago. “The elbow is doing fine,” Mawae said. Mawae, who previously played for the New York Jets, said he would like to eventually retire with the Titans. “This is where I want to finish up my career, and if I can get a few more years, so be it,” Mawae said. “If not, we’ll have to re-evaluate it. But I have no plans on retiring after this season, so we’ll see.”
