As long as physicals check out and cornerback Byron Maxwell’s contract can be reworked, the Eagles will be sending Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins in a trade.

Reports of the deal surfaced earlier on Monday and now there are multiple reports that the deal has been finalized pending physicals for both players. Maxwell’s agent Alvin Keels also told Josina Anderson of ESPN that his client is included in the deal.

In addition to the physicals, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins are also working to alter Maxwell’s contract. Maxwell signed a six-year, $63 million contract as a free agent last year and didn’t come all that close to living up to expectations as a starting corner for the Eagles. He’s due to make $8.5 million with a $9.7 million cap hit this year under the terms of that deal.

The Eagles re-signed quarterback Sam Bradford, but this deal and their reported willingness to trade DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews is a pretty clear sign that team wants to walk back much of what they feel went wrong after giving former coach Chip Kelly personnel control after the 2014 season.

The Dolphins are expected to send draft pick compensation back to Philadelphia, although the nature of the pick or picks is uncertain at this time.
