Ben McAdoo is expected to be promoted from Giants offensive coordinator to head coach, and he’s expected to hire former Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin as his offensive coordinator.
The New York Daily News reports that Philbin is McAdoo’s pick.
Philbin and McAdoo both worked on Mike McCarthy’s staff in Green Bay from 2006 to 2011, before Philbin was hired in Miami.
Although Philbin failed as a head coach with the Dolphins, he was a successful offensive coordinator with the Packers, and he has a similar offensive philosophy to McAdoo. It’s a hiring that makes sense for the Giants.
