Michael Floyd expected to practice on Wednesday

Cardinals wide receiver Michael Floyd has been on the sideline since dislocating three fingers early in August, but it looks like his absence from the field is coming to an end.

Coach Bruce Arians said Tuesday that Floyd will practice with the team on Wednesday. Arians has expressed optimism about Floyd getting back in the lineup for Week One, but the team hasn’t offered any update on his status for Sunday’s game at this point.

The team practiced on Tuesday and Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that Floyd was catching passes on the side during the portion of the session open to the media. It’s not clear how much Floyd will do in practice, but the Cardinals will have to issue their first injury report of the season and that should give a better idea of how likely he is to play against the Saints.

Floyd dropped from 66 catches for 1,054 yards in 2013 to 47 for 841 last season, some of which can be attributed to the team’s shaky quarterbacking after Carson Palmer tore his ACL. Palmer will be in the lineup this weekend and will be throwing to John Brown and Larry Fitzgerald in the event that Floyd isn’t able to get on the field.
