Mike Martz rumored to have interest in Arizona State job

This is the rumor mill, so file this one under “rumor” rather than hard news.

Doug Haller of the Arizona Republic is “hearing” that Mike Martz has interest in the vacant Arizona State coaching job.

Martz was an assistant for the Sun Devils from 1983-1991. His creative offense would be a lot of fun to watch in college, although it’s hard to imagine him recruiting.

Martz has at least five more weeks with the Bears. Although Bears fans have wanted Martz out at various points in his tenure, we think it would set Jay Cutler’s development back to lose Martz.
