The Panthers released their initial 2014 starter at right tackle Nate Chandler late last week, but they have no desire to say farewell to the guy who took over at the position.
Not without getting a second-round pick in return, anyway.
Mike Remmers’ agent Brett Tessler announced on Twitter that the Panthers have extended the second-round tender on his client, who is a restricted free agent this offseason. The tender is worth $2.553 million and the Panthers have the right to match any other offer that Remmers might get for his services.
Remmers joined the Panthers during the 2014 season and took over a starting role for the final five games of the regular season and both playoff games. He started all 19 games the Panthers played during the 2015 season and playoffs with most of his performances going a lot better than his rough closing effort against Broncos linebacker and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller.
