The Packers decided they didn’t have a spot for linebacker Nate Palmer on their roster, but, as we’ve seen countless times over the years, one team’s trash is another team’s waiver claim.
The NFL’s daily transaction report brings word that the Titans used their spot at the top of the league’s waiver order to ensure that Palmer would become the newest member of the roster. Palmer is in the final year of the four-year contract he signed after the Packers drafted him in the sixth round of the 2013 draft and is set to make $675,000 for the 2016 season.
Palmer played in every game for the Packers last season and made 10 starts during the regular season before getting dropped down the depth chart in favor of rookie Jake Ryan. He finished the year with 68 tackles and a sack. Palmer, who missed the 2014 season with a torn MCL, recorded 17 tackles as a rookie.
The Titans signed Sean Spence earlier this offseason and also have Wesley Woodyard and Avery Williamson at inside linebacker.
