Draft-eligible position-player hopefuls who played college football in 2014 have another chance to open the eyes of scouts.

The NFL announced Friday it would hold an extra regional combine at the Bears’ headquarters in Lake Forest, Illinois on Sunday, March 8. The league already had scheduled a combine for March 7 in Lake Forest. Registration for both dates remains open, according to the regional combines’ website.

The additional Chicago regional combine is one of six of its kind held for draft-eligible players. The regional combines are separate from the NFL Scouting Combine, which will be held next week.

The regional combines appeal most to under-the-radar prospects trying to make it in the league. The workouts are restricted to players eligible for the 2015 NFL Draft, and specialists (kickers/punters) will not take part.

Prospects who impress at the regional combines could be invited to the NFL’s Super Regional Combine in Phoenix on Saturday, March 21.

The next regional combine will be held on Saturday at Methodist Training Center in Houston.
