In Washington, there have been few reasons to throw a fist into the air and exclaim, “F--k yeah!”
Though we’re not sure this constitutes a reason to do so (especially if any of you are checking us out discreetly on your Sprint phone from the last row of a funeral parlor), Redskins linebacker/defensive end Brian Orakpo has been named the NFC defensive player of the week.
Orakpo exploded for four sacks for a total loss of 44 yards, six tackles, three tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble. Sure, it was against the Raiders, but it’s still impressive.
For the season, Orakpo now has 11.0 sacks, which ties him with teammate Andre Carter for fourth place on the 2009 sack list.
