The Packers like to build through the draft, not free agency. But they signed one free agent today in Jared Cook, and they could sign another.
Green Bay has been poking around free agent running back Ronnie Hillman, Tom Pelisssero of USA Today reports.
Running back doesn’t seem to be a big need for the Packers, who re-signed James Starks this offseason and are hoping to see a slimmer, fitter Eddie Lacy when camp opens. But if they can get him at the right price, Hillman could be a decent addition for the Packers as well.
Hillman has played his entire four-year career with the Broncos. Last season he had a career-high 863 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, but the Broncos have made clear that C.J. Anderson is their starter going forward, and they haven’t shown a lot of interest in bringing Hillman back.
