Panthers pick up Pettiti

The Carolina Panthers have re-signed restricted free agent offensive lineman Rob Pettiti, agent Ralph Cindrich announced on Twitter.

Pettiti finished the 2009 season with the Panthers after signing in December. Before that he was playing for the Florida Tuskers of the UFL, and Cindrich claims that he was considered the best offensive lineman in the league. (I invite anyone who paid close attention to offensive line play in UFL games last year to confirm or refute Cindrich’s claim in comments.)

As a rookie in 2005, Pettiti started all 16 games and played every offensive snap for the Dallas Cowboys. But he hasn’t done much since then, bouncing around the league with the Saints, Rams and Panthers but playing in only six games and starting only one.
