Patriots ramp up efforts to block reporters

Some folks are pretty fired up about teams barring media from player-only workouts. Florio doesn’t sound too concerned.

No matter how you feel about it, the level of paranoia from the Patriots on Friday has reached comical proportions. Bill Belichick is somewhere cackling.

During Thursday’s practice session at Boston College, reporters were not allowed in the stadium. So they found a sad spot to watch through a tunnel. On Friday, the players blocked the tunnel as seen in the photo above taken by Ian Rapoport of the Boston Herald.

Rapoport, undaunted, found another spot to watch. Until security kicked him out.

“It’s a closed practice. Brady doesn’t want anybody watching,” the guard told him.

(A helicopter later circled the field. No sniper fire was heard in response.)

Media interviews have also been somewhat discouraged after the practice, although that hasn’t stopped all Patriots players from talking. Brady, who is largely in town for the Tom Brady Football Challenge to support Best Buddies, isn’t speaking.

If Brady was talking, he would probably just say, “It is what it is.”
