Patriots will open season on September 10

Gronk

With the 2014 season in the books, it’s time to peek ahead on the calendar to the official return of the NFL in September.

This year, it gets started on Thursday, September 10. The Patriots, as the defending Super Bowl champions, will be hosting the first game of the season.

The options, beyond the AFC East rivals (Jets, Dolphins, and Bills), consist of the Steelers, Eagles, Washington, Jaguars, and Titans.

Throwing out the last three, the realistic options are the first five. The obvious choice is the Steelers, given that only Pittsburgh made it to the postseason. If the NFL opts to go with a division rival, the Bills make the most sense, given that Buffalo finished above .500 and has hired long-time Belichick/Brady nemesis Rex Ryan.

Who do you think it will be? Make a guess below.
