The Bears might be 2-7 this season, but that’s not getting in the way of big promises from linebacker Pernell McPhee.
The Giants, who host the Bears this Sunday, have only allowed 13 sacks this season and McPhee was asked about how they’ve been so good at avoiding negative plays. McPhee didn’t delve into the X’s and O’s, opting for a more emotional response to the question on the table.
“We’re going to tear their ass up. I don’t care what everybody else did,” McPhee said, via Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune. “We’re going to sack him. He can throw the ball however many times he wants. I’m going to make sure of that.”
Eli Manning got a question about McPhee’s comments during a conference call and said, via the New York Daily News, that McPhee and the Bears have “done a good job getting sacks and hits on the quarterback.” This is true -- the Bears are tied for eighth in the league in sacks -- but the rest of the Bears’ work this season is reason for plenty of confidence that the Giants can get to five straight wins.
