In 2009, few players on the Denver Broncos benefited more from the arrival of new head coach Josh McDaniels than defensive end Kenny Peterson. McDaniels and Peterson are old friends who had been high school teammates, and Peterson went from a career backup to a starter.
But today Peterson is out of work, as the Broncos announced that he has been released.
The additions of Jarvis Green, Justin Bannan and Jamal Williams have upgraded the Broncos’ defensive line, and the team has apparently concluded that there’s no room on the roster for Peterson anymore. The 31-year-old Peterson is now an unrestricted free agent.
The Broncos also announced that they’ve waived guard Mitch Erickson.
