Peyton thinks media should ask him about Giants’ D, not Eli

Peyton Manning is facing Eli Manning on Sunday, as you’ve probably heard. But considering that they’ll never be on the field at the same time, maybe we should be talking about more than just Peyton vs. Eli.

That’s what Peyton thinks. Talking to Denver reporters today, Peyton said he had spoken earlier in the day on a conference call with the New York media, and that he wanted to talk about his preparation for the Giants’ defense.

“I had the New York conference call today. Not one question about the Giants’ defense. I had to force that in there myself. That’s where our focus is,” Manning said.

Eli expressed similar thoughts.

“All week in preparation I’m worried about their defense. I’m worried about Denver’s defense,” he said.

Both brothers seemed like they thought the focus on them was overkill. Eli said dryly, “Obviously I know who the opposing quarterback is,” while Peyton said he only intended to talk about Eli today and didn’t want to constantly face questions about facing off against his brother.

No matter how much everyone else is focusing on Peyton vs. Eli, Peyton and Eli are focusing on the opponents they’re actually going to have to face on Sunday.
