Philly Brown: Call me Corey

The Panthers added Ted Ginn, Devin Funchess and Jarrett Boykin to their receiving corps this offseason and the list of new names on the depth chart doesn’t end there.

There’s also Corey Brown, whose name would be more familiar if he was still going by his nickname. Philly Brown caught 21 passes and two touchdowns and returned a punt for another score for the Panthers last season, but Brown wants to get back to his given moniker for his second NFL season.

“Philly was fun while it lasted,” Brown said, via the Charlotte Observer. “But at the same time, I’d rather have my regular name.”

Brown says that the team’s coaches have already started referring to him by that name, but he expects teammates will “always call me Philly.” He will need to perform well to stick on the roster with the increased receiver competition in Carolina this year or Corey Brown will have the chance to introduce himself to a new group of teammates at some point this year.
