Photo emerges of Hernandez posing with Glock in 2009
Many stories have emerged in recent days about Aaron Hernandez’s history. A picture posted on TMZ earlier today arguably trumps them all.
In the photo that, per TMZ, was taken in Gainesville, Florida in 2009, Hernandez stands in front of a mirror, phone in one hand and handgun in the other. It’s a Glock pointed up, with his finger on the trigger.
Apart from the charge of murdering Odin Lloyd, Hernandez faces multiple weapons counts.
While Hernandez is entitled to the presumption of innocence and can be found guilty of killing Lloyd only if the authorities introduce proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Hernandez was responsible for Lloyd’s death, someone killed Lloyd within a mile of Hernandez’s home late at night in an industrial park in a quiet Massachusetts town. The timeline set forth exhaustively by prosecutor Bill McCauley on Wednesday demonstrates via text messages and surveillance cameras that Hernandez and Lloyd were together not long before Lloyd was killed.
Even in the absence of “direct” evidence that Hernandez shot Lloyd or ordered the shooting, the circumstantial evidence paints an ugly picture for Hernandez. If everything McCauley said is true, who killed Lloyd if it wasn’t Hernandez or one of the other two guys in the car?
