Deone Bucannon of the Cardinals has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 15 after he returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown as part of a busy night in the Cardinals’ win over the Eagles.

The award is the first of Bucannon’s career.

A first-round pick in 2014, Bucannon is listed as a safety but has played mostly as a linebacker this season. His nine tackles against the Eagles tied a season high, and the touchdown was his first.

Bucannon has started all 14 games this season. He has two sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
