Plaxico gets another chance in Pittsburgh

Last year, receiver Plaxico Burress languished on the open market for months. He eventually signed with the Steelers in November, appearing in four games with three starts.

This year, Burress won’t be hanging around.

Burress has agreed to terms to return to the Steelers, per a source with knowledge of the situaiton.

Terms of the deal aren’t yet known. Chances are that the salary is at the veteran minimum, possibly with incentives based on his performance and playing time.

Burress started his career as a first-round pick in Pittsburgh. After five seasons with the Steelers, he joined the Giants. In November 2008, he fired a bullet through his leg in a Manhattan nightclub and ultimately went to prison for carrying an unregistered concealed weapon in New York.

Released in the summer of 2011, Burress signed with the Jets after the lockout, catching eight touchdown passes in 16 games. Last year, he managed three receptions for 42 yards and a touchdown.
