The Washington Redskins have moved very fast in filling the void left by today’s resignation of Vinny Cerrato.
Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that the Redskins have hired Bruce Allen as their executive vice president and General Manager. Jay Glazer of FOX previously reported that the team was in talks with Allen.
The team has now announced the hiring.
It is not clear how the Redskins could hire Allen so quickly without running afoul of the league’s Rooney Rule. The Redskins may have quietly interviewed a minority candidate, or they may have given Allen a title that doesn’t require Rooney Rule compliance.
UPDATE: Schefter reports that the Redskins did interview at least two minority candidates and comply with the Rooney Rule.
