Redskins release DeAngelo Hall

Now any of the teams that might have been thinking about making a run at Chris Gamble before his surprise retirement have another veteran corner to choose from.

With salary cap issues mounting, the Redskins have done the expected and released cornerback DeAngelo Hall, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post.

That takes them off the hook for his $7.5 million salary, but it puts them firmly in need of some secondary help.

The 29-year-old Hall should still get plenty of action in the market, even if he’s not going to reach the kind of salary numbers the Redskins lavished on him in 2009 (a six-year, $55 million deal).
