Monday brought a report that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler suffered a shoulder injury against the Giants that could keep him from playing again this season, although it wasn’t mentioned by coach John Fox during press conferences on Sunday or Monday.

Another report on Tuesday lends some support to the idea that Cutler may not be back in the lineup for Chicago. Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that the team will bring 2014 sixth-round pick David Fales back to their active roster.

Fales spent the last two seasons in the organization, but was released in September and is currently on the Ravens’ practice squad. He has never played in the regular season for either team.

Matt Barkley has been the only backup on the 53-man roster in Chicago since Brian Hoyer went on injured reserve and would likely be the starter in the event Cutler is out of action.
