On Wednesday night, multiple reports emerged almost spontaneously and simultaneously that the Eagles are interested in Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly.
The feeding frenzy spawned a suggestion that the Bears are interested, too. However, Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Kelly is not a candidate to coach the Bears.
Maybe G.M. Phil Emery realizes that Kelly is simply hoping to finagle more money from the Fighting Irish. Or maybe Emery simply isn’t looking for a college coach; none of his 13 candidates come from that level of the sport.
Regardless, Jensen says that Kelly won’t be making the relatively short trek from South Bend to Chicago.
