The Buffalo Bills appear to be moving quickly on a replacement defensive line coach after the firing of Karl Dunbar on Monday.
According to FootballScoop.com, the Bills intend to hire Lamar University defensive line coach John Blake. Lamar head coach Ray Woodard told the Beaumont (Texas) Enterprise that the Bills asked permission to interview Blake, but that nothing was finalized to his knowledge.
Blake had just been hired by Lamar in February. It’s his first coaching job since 2010 after he resigned from North Carolina after an NCAA investigation into his relationship with NFL agent Gary Wichard. Blake was handed a three-year “show-cause” penalty by the NCAA, which has kept him from coaching college football since.
Blake was the head coach at the University of Oklahoma from 1996-98 with Bills head coach Rex Ryan serving as defensive coordinator in 1998.
