As former New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress continues to try to resolve his serious legal predicament in the wake of being indicted on gun charges, his NFL future remains up in the air.
According to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, Burress could be suspended by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for at least eight games this season and possibly for the whole season if an NFL team signs him to a contract.
Per the report, Goodell doesn’t seem inclined to cut Burress a break.
And no team has reportedly contacted Goodell to check on Burress’ status after initial interest from the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears.
Burress hasn’t met with Goodell yet, either.
Burress was indicted earlier this month on two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and one count of reckless endangerment in the second degree. The first charge is a felony and the second charge is a misdemeanor.
So, Burress’ NFL career is stuck in limbo as he contends with the New York legal system.
