As Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley prepares to give a little payback to the Chiefs, he’s still waiting for his back pay.

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that the Chiefs still haven’t given Haley any of the salary since firing him last season as the team’s head coach. The amount exceeds $2.5 million.

Of course, the Chiefs haven’t paid because the question of whether he’s entitled to any of it will be decided by an arbitration proceeding before Commissioner Roger Goodell.

That said, it’s unusual for any team to refuse to pay a former head coach, with the Raiders one of the only teams that has taken the position that a head coach was fired “for cause,” which in turn justifies giving the coach no further money.
