A notable free agent is reportedly set to have back surgery on Thursday.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham is slated to have surgery on a herniated disc, and there’s no word yet on when he’s expected to be back at full strength.
The Bengals’ first-round pick in 2010, the 26-year-old Gresham caught 62 passes for 460 yards and five touchdowns last season. He has played 74-of-80 regular season games since entering the NFL, and he has not had a major injury issue since sustaining a torn ACL at Oklahoma in 2009.
Gresham is PFT’s fourth highest-rated unsigned player. He reportedly drew some interest from Oakland earlier in free agency.
