The Saints are reportedly dipping into the college ranks for a new running backs coach.

Thayer Evans of SI.com reports that the Saints have hired University of Arkansas running backs coach Joel Thomas to fill the same role on their coaching staff. The Saints haven’t confirmed that or any moves so we don’t know what that means for current running backs coach Dan Roushar.

Roushar coached tight ends at Michigan State before coming to New Orleans and could be headed back there with multiple reports about the team parting ways with tight ends coach Terry Malone since the end of the season. Wide receivers coach Henry Ellard is also reportedly out in New Orleans as the Saints start renovations after a disappointing 2014 season.

Thomas joined the Razorbacks in 2013 after stints at Washington, Purdue, Idaho and Louisville. The Saints have some decisions to make about who Thomas will be coaching at running back in 2015 with leading rusher Mark Ingram headed for free agency next month.
