It looks like the Bears will have to try to rebound from their season-opening loss without two of their starting offensive linemen.
Center Roberto Garza and left guard Matt Slauson both suffered ankle injuries during the loss to the Bills and Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports that further examination has led both men to be diagnosed with high ankle sprains. Such injuries typically keep players out of the lineup for multiple weeks.
If that’s the case in Chicago, the team would have to turn to rookie guard Michael Ola and center Brian de la Puente. Replacing two offensive linemen at the same time is problematic under any circumstances and this week’s trip to be the opponent for the 49ers’ unveiling of the Field of Jeans in front of what’s sure to be a spirited crowd could be particularly difficult for Chicago.
The Bears also saw wide receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery leave Sunday’s game with injuries, although there’s more optimism that they’ll be ready to go for Week Two.
