Roddy White’s doing the whole “be more involved” thing again

It seems like we went through this whole thing a few weeks ago.

But after the latest Falcons loss in which he did not play a big part in the passing game, veteran wide receiver Roddy White said he’d like to be more involved.

White was targeted on just two of Matt Ryan’s 30 pass attempts in yesterday’s loss to the 49ers, caught one of them for 20 yards, and said he wanted a chance to make more plays.

I would like to be more involved in the offense but it is what it is,” White said, via Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I’m going to go out there and run the plays that are called and block as hard as I can and help my team win. . . .

“I feel like they will come eventually. It’s a long season, man. We’ve got seven more games. Things could turn around instantly from week to week. I’m very optimistic that it will and I will continue to go at it and work as hard as I can.”

White is fifth on the team in targets behind Julio Jones (103), running back Devonta Freeman (52), tight end Jacob Tamme (44) and receiver Leonard Hankerson (38), who has missed four games with injuries. He has been targeted 28 times, and has 16 catches for 210 yards and a score. He was targeted eight times and caught four in the opener, but hasn’t been as involved since.

The 34-year-old wideout expressed similar sentiments after Week Four (back when they were still winning), but quickly circled back to insist he wasn’t disgruntled.

Now that we’ve come the whole way back around, and they’re not winning, we’ll see how long it takes him to backtrack this time.
