Even though Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo believes that Tony Romo’s rib injury was blown out of proportion, Romo still may need to have some painkilling medication blown via needle into the affected area on Sunday.

After taking two painkilling injections so that he could play on Monday night, Romo may need another one before he’s thrown to the Lions in Jerry Jones’ answer to the Roman coliseum.

On Thursday, Romo said that he tests the area by tapping on it to see if he can feel pain. “And if I feel it I’m going to need it,” Romo said, via Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com.

Romo will continue to wear a Kevlar vest to protect the injured area. “It did a good job,” Romo said. “I thought it was good, I thought it helped. I’m not sitting there constantly thinking about it, that’s a good sign.”

It’ll be an even better sign if he can continue to play without suffering any aggravation as the injury continues to heal. Though he was able to escape Monday night’s game without any problems, he’s now facing a team that has a young defensive lineman who may be a bit better equipped than anyone on the Redskins to inflict further pain.
