Midway through the fourth quarter on Sunday in Seattle, the Patriots had a 23-10 lead. That wasn’t enough to stop Seahawks rookie quarterback Russell Wilson.
Wilson, who is quickly developing a reputation as a quarterback who plays his best when it matters most, threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes as the Seahawks won 24-23. Overall Wilson went 16-for-27 for 293 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady threw a career-high 58 passes, completing 36 of them for 395 yards and two touchdowns. But he also had two interceptions and two costly intentional grounding penalties, and the Seahawks’ defense did a fairly good job against the fast-paced New England offense. Patriots receiver Brandon Lloyd made an amazing diving catch that could have set the Patriots up for a last-second game-winning field goal, but Lloyd came down out of bounds -- and came down hard on his shoulder, apparently injured.
The win improves the Seahawks to 4-2 in the very competitive NFC West, while the Patriots fall to 3-3 and in a four-way tie with the entire AFC East. The Seahawks and the Patriots are both in the middle of some pretty crazy division races, which is fitting, as they just played a crazy game.
