Two years ago, Chiefs kicker Ryan Succop became the last pick in the draft, giving him the dubious honor of being known as “Mr. Irrelevant.”

On Sunday, his relevance to the biggest upset of the year helped secure his second career AFC special-teams player of the week award. In a 19-14 win over the previously 13-0 Packers, Succop scored 13 points via four field goals and an extra point.

Looking more broadly than one game, Succop has made 21 straight field goals, tying him with Nick Lowery for the second-longest streak in team history. Succop sits one made field goal behind Pete Stoyanovich for the team’s all-time record.

And Succop currently has the longest field-goal streak in the NFL.
